Designing and creating with our Room 12 Buddies

Last term we enjoyed our learning with our Buddy Class - Room 12.  We had fun designing and creating these amazing Wow Costumes.  Our inspirations were - water, trees, kiwi and fantails.  

We thank Room 12 Buddies for sharing their learning with us. We loved dressing up and walking down the catwalk so that everyone could see us. Look at our finished efforts!

We like learning counting, reading, and listening using Starfall.com. Mrs Paton is helping us in the Computer room.

Read, Read ,Read a book together

Everyday we practice reading our books. We are all learning to look closely at the words and point to each word as we read. Somedays our Room 12 Buddies come to read to us and one day Mr Peachey shared a story too. We love listening to stories being read.

Learning together

We are learning to write stories. First we think of an idea (draw a picture). Then we write letters and words across the page to make a sentence. Some of us our trying new words by hearing and writing some sounds. When we have finished our message we always like to share. Some days we share our messages with a friend in the class. We are always proud of our writing. Come into Room 5 and read our stories.

The amazing maize

All the Junior school visited the amazing maze in maize. We had to be very Resilient when we were in the maze. It was very fun.

Swimming in Vardon School pool

For seven weeks we had fun playing games and learning to swim in our school pool. Every afternoon  we swam with Room 6.  By watching each other and copying our friends, we learnt many new skills.    We can float and kick using long arms, we can float on our backs, we can float and kick with flutter boards, we can dive through hoops and we just loved having showers in the pool. What do like like doing in the school pool?

Buddy Class

We are lucky to have Room 12 for our Buddy Class this year.  We are planning to share our learning with them.  Some of our Room 12 buddies came to our classroom and read us picture books.  It is great getting to know these seniors and we often see them in the playground too. Sometimes they play games with us.  Thank you Arazoo, Usman, Latrel, Savannah and Zaeleh for being our Buddies.

Learning the letter sounds

Every week we learn a new letter sound.  So far we have learnt the letter sounds a, t  and  s.  Last Friday we made some yummy toast.  Can you guess which letter sound we were learning?  This week we are learning the letter sound for i  and we have learnt that there are 2 sounds - a short sound for i ( as in  is ) and a long sound ( as in like).  What do you think we might make for the letter sound i ?

We are the very new learners at Vardon School and we are going to enjoy sharing our learning with you.  In Room 5 we have Aston, Maddison, Jisita, Emma- Jayne, Jeremiah, Ethan, Isabella, Kataraina, Jett, Harry, Ake, Mele and Harrison.  Mrs Anderson is our teacher and Mrs Rogers is our teacher aide.
